Nominations for the 2021 BSA Board of Trustees Elections are now open. Deadline: 23 March 2021, 17:00 GMT
The BSA is seeking three new trustees who would be interested in taking up roles as Membership Services or Publications trustees. Trustees are expected to attend five board meetings a year and two Advisory Forum meetings where representatives from each constituency within the BSA are present. Meetings are usually held on Fridays and most will be virtual, thus requiring limited travel. The board is a supportive and collegial community with support mentors being introduced this year for new trustees. Trustees focus on four main areas of business – governance, publications, public engagement and conference and membership services – and all trustees are expected to be active in one of these areas and prepared to commit to several hours per month where necessary.
It is key that trustees can commit to attending meetings and giving voluntary time to carry out BSA tasks. The first virtual board meeting you will be required to attend is 4 June via Zoom.
The Trustees seek to achieve a good balance of people in key positions with respect to equality and diversity and request that members are mindful of this when nominating. The board is particularly keen to increase the presence of minoritised groups amongst the Trustees. Applicants need to be fully paid-up members of the BSA and need to be proposed by any other fully paid-up member of the association.
Nominees should complete a Nomination Form, where role descriptions are also available. Forms should be submitted to britsoc@uk-engage.org by 23 March 2021, 17:00 GMT.
If elected, you will become a trustee of the Association as well as a company director. Trustee training is provided but applicants are strongly advised to read the available guidance before applying. The following may be useful:
