We will no longer be active on X (formerly Twitter).  As of today (1 May), we have ceased posting on the platform and will not be using it to share updates going forward.

This follows our earlier decision to step away from X due to its weakening moderation policies, tolerance of harmful rhetoric, and the unchecked spread of disinformation.  These developments are incompatible with the values of the BSA and the principles of intellectual responsibility that underpin our work.

“Our role is to support sociological knowledge, research, and public discourse – and that means being present in spaces where integrity and evidence are respected.  We are stepping away from X because it no longer provides that environment.”- Judith Mudd, BSA Chief Executive

We remain committed to sharing news, events, and updates from across the discipline.  You can find us on:

We know many in the sociological community are also rethinking how and where to engage online.  We hope to continue connecting with you in spaces that are more aligned with the core values of respect, evidence-based communication, and academic integrity.
