The Department for Education (DfE) is currently reviewing the national curriculum and assessment frameworks, a process that will shape educational outcomes in England. Led by fellow sociologist Professor Becky Francis CBE, this consultation invites us, and the wider public, to offer critical insights on equity, educational pathways, and community needs – areas where sociological perspectives are essential.
The British Sociological Association (BSA) will be submitting a response to ensure that the views of our discipline are represented. However, your individual contributions will be invaluable to ensuring this review reflects both current challenges for young people and teachers and the broader societal impact of education. You are strongly encouraged to lend your expertise to this process, adding evidence and examples that highlight the importance of inclusive, supportive frameworks for all young people.
Respond to the consultation by 22 November 2024 to help inform the future of education in England. Complete the survey>
