Over the past year UKRI has been developing its new policy on open access for journal articles and books that result from research that they support. This new policy is looking to align the policies across the seven Research Councils and also to move towards ‘policy commonality’ with the REF.
The policy is open for consultation between now and 17 April 2020, 12:00 noon. Responses are invited via an online form from any organisation, group or individual with an interest in this policy.
Full information is available on the UKRI website, including the main consultation document and a supplementary document listing all the questions in the online form and guidance on answering the questions.

The BSA will be submitting a response and also contributing to the Academy of Social Sciences response on the consultation. We welcome members’ comments to formulate and contribute to our response, so please email Alison Danforth with your views.
